African Artist’s Foundation’s Call for Submissions for The Maker: New Contemporaries in Design & Photography is open until April 30, 2014 and interested photographers and designers are encouraged to participate in this programme. The Maker: New Contemporaries serves as a platform to showcase the works of new and emerging artists to a wide audience of galleries, curators, collectors, patrons, art critics, academics and the press.

Entries should explore the following areas of design: furniture, product, fashion, graphic, and architecture; as well as photographs that push the boundaries of contemporary African photography. Artists will be short-listed based on originality, strong conceptual direction, honesty of creative expression and an overall commitment to their practice. Emphasis will be placed on the creative process; this may involve studio visits in certain cases.
